Schumacher indicates he will race on
Michael Schumacher has given his firmest indication yet that he intends to race on in Formula 1 when his current deal with Ferrari expires, according to an exclusive interview in this week's AUTOSPORT magazine
Schumacher said he could see no reason for hanging up his helmet in the short term, and reiterated his desire for the current 'Ferrari era' to continue as long as possible.
"We set out to make this a Ferrari era and to keep this time for as long as we can," he told AUTOSPORT. "I have a contract until the end of 2004, and hopefully longer, and in this respect we want to stay as consistent as we are."
Schumacher says his aim is not to win every race, and even admits he would continue if he missed out on a world title in the near future.
"I am quite happy not to win every race," he added. "But as long as we can do a good job and still fight for the championship then that is absolutely fine. Just getting close is fine as well."
