Schumacher happy with second

Michael Schumacher said he was happy to finish second to Mika Hakkinen at

Interlagos today and predicted 'close fights' in the season ahead.
'It could have been worse I could have been third or fourth,' he joked. 'We
proved in the race we have made a huge step forward since Melbourne.'

'Obviously Mika was faster than me but we planned the pit stop to maximise
our advantage when he was behind but he put in a few fast laps and came out
in front so there was nothing I could do.'

'Even so I kept him under pressure right to the end of the race to see if
something would break but it didn't.

'I can live with the gap between McLaren and us because I know what is coming
for the next few races for our car. The full second in qualifying was
unacceptable but the gap now is all right.

'Its a long season and I am sure we will see some close fights in the future.'
