Schumacher Confident of 51st Win Despite Crash

Championship leader Michael Schumacher is confident of scoring his record-equalling 51st career win at his home German Grand Prix on Sunday despite his recent heavy accident during testing at the Monza circuit.

Schumacher lost control of his Ferrari at the Variante della Roggia turn exactly one week ago, hitting the tyre barriers at high speed. As a consequence of the accident, the German star was forced to miss the test to rest at home.

Schumacher, who will arrive at the German race with a 37-point lead in the Championship with only six races remaining, admitted the lack of testing before the Grand Prix will not be a problem at Hockenheim and he is hoping to equal Alain Prost's record for most number of wins.

"I don't think it will be a problem at all and I am really looking forward to my home race," said Schumacher. "You have to consider that I know the circuit and have a certain amount of experience on this track. The accident will not create any problems for me racing on this track, as I know why and how it happened so everything is under control.

"(I feel) No pain at all and contrary to expectation, I already felt fine on Thursday. Over the weekend, I did my usual physical training and so I feel perfectly fine. Of course, it would be great to be able to celebrate a 51st win right here in Hockenheim."

Schumacher has scored six victories so far this season, and he only needs to finish third in the remaining six races to clinch his fourth title.
