Rosberg Uncertain of Hakkinen's Future

Mika Hakkinen's manager Keke Rosberg has refused to confirm that the Finnish driver will return to Formula One after his year's break next season.
Hakkinen will take a year out from driving for McLaren in 2002 and will be replaced by fellow Finn Kimi Raikkonen. Rosberg, World Champion in 1982, said Hakkinen will not look to join another team but it is too early to predict what will happen after the year-long sabbatical.
"He is honestly on a sabbatical," said Rosberg, amid rumours that Hakkinen is simply delaying his retirement from the sport. "He is not going to be looking for another team. He is very happy with his team and he has no desire to change teams or do anything like that. Absolutely not.
"He can came back after a year, but nobody knows what lies ahead. It is too difficult, too hypothetical. It is not in my agenda. Anyone can change their mind at any time. Ron Dennis (McLaren team boss) may retire. Who knows? People make their plans for the moment that is all I know."
Hakkinen will complete the final two races of this season before taking a year away from Formula One. The official line from the driver and the team is that it is simply a break and not confirmation of retirement.
