Richards Happy for 'Talented' Davidson

British American Racing boss David Richards expressed his delight after it was announced that test driver Anthony Davidson will make his Grand Prix debut in Hungary next weekend with the Minardi team.

"We are happy to release Anthony to Minardi for the next two races," said Richards. "It is a great opportunity for a talented young British driver to race in Formula One and we wish him every success.

"I'm sure he will do as good a job in the Minardi race car as he has in testing for us over the last couple of years."

The 23-year old Briton, under contract with BAR until the end of 2006, will replace Malaysian Alex Yoong at the small Anglo-Italian Minardi team after the rookie failed to qualify for a race for the third time this season at the German Grand Prix last month.

Davidson will race both at the Hungaroring circuit next weekend and at the Belgian Grand Prix two weeks later while Yoong goes back to testing in order to regain his confidence before returning to racing at the Italian Grand Prix in September.
