Renault sure to keep momentum

World champions Renault are adamant they can keep their momentum going following their best result of the season at the Monaco Grand Prix

Italian Giancarlo Fisichella finished in fourth position, showing that the French squad's hard work continues to pay off following a poor start to the season.

And although they admit there is still a long way to go before they are where they want to be, team boss Flavio Briatore is convinced the team can continue taking step forwards in the next races.

"Giancarlo put in a fantastic performance all weekend, and congratulations to him for his fourth place," said Briatore, whose team are in fourth place in the standings with 16 points.

"From the team's point of view, it is encouraging to have moved closer to the front of the field, and back towards our normal level of performance.

"Our step forward confirms that we are moving in the right direction at the factory, and credit goes to all the people who have worked night and day in the last few weeks.

"We know that there is still a long way to go, and we will be aiming to make steps forward with each race. I am confident that we can continue to improve from here."
