Coulthard laments 'scrappy' performance

David Coulthard labelled Red Bull Racing's performance at the Monaco Grand Prix as 'scrappy' after they left the Principality without any points

The Briton finished a lowly 14th in the race, with teammate Mark Webber retiring with gearbox issues, and said that everyone at the team had to take some responsibility for the poor showing.

"We were scrappy really," he told ITV. "Everyone has got to hold their hand up and acknowledge that we could have done a better job - apart from guys bolting the car together.

"We just didn't get it together and I am disappointed because it could have been a good weekend for us."

Coulthard's speed in the race was compromised by an early collision with Scuderia Toro Rosso's Vitantonio Liuzzi that damaged his front wing.

"I came together with Tonio and damaged the front wings and endplates," he said. "That (damage) carried on through the afternoon and there was nothing much that could be done. There was way too much under steer.

"We deliberated about changing the wing in the pitstop, but the decision was taken to simply put some more wing (angle) on it."

Webber said he had no option but to retire from the race with his gearbox issues.

"I had a couple of things happen," he said. "There was a small misfire with the engine, which was not fantastic at the Swimming Pool.

"I was getting on with that but then when I downshifted to third I lost the gears. When the car keeps locking up here then you end up in the fence - and you end up looking even more stupid than we do now."
