Renault Hoping for Reliability in Austria

The Renault team are hoping for reliability at this weekend's Austrian Grand Prix in order to return to the points after a disappointing race in Spain.

The Renault team are hoping for reliability at this weekend's Austrian Grand Prix in order to return to the points after a disappointing race in Spain.

Both Briton Jenson Button and Italian teammate Jarno Trulli were forced into retirement after their cars were hit by mechanical problems at Barcelona while they were running strongly in the points.

Despite the disappointment, the French squad - currently in fourth place in the Constructors' Championship - are hoping to be able to fight for third place, according to the team's technical director Mike Gascoyne, who was encouraged by the pace shown in Spain.

"Barcelona was disappointing, of course, but our performance throughout the weekend showed that we have the pace to readily deliver fourth place in the Championship, and potentially push for third," said Gascoyne.

"If our reliability is good enough to get us to the finish, we are confident it will be in a points-scoring position."

Button, who has scored all the points for Renault so far this season, is also confident of a good result at the A1-Ring circuit if his car can make it to the end of the race.

"The last result doesn't affect my preparation at all," said the Briton. "Every time I have finished this year, I've scored points, and we know that if the car stays reliable, we will put in a strong performance."
