Renault feeling pressure to score points
Renault is banking on its renowned traction coming to the aid of its drivers at the twisty Hungaroring this weekend as it fights to hang on to fourth place in the constructors' championship
In recent races Renault has come under mounting pressure from Sauber and the Swiss team is now just four points behind in the standings. With five races still to run, technical director Mike Gascoyne feels the team needs to start capitalising on its strengths.
"We have to make sure we get a points finish to consolidate our championship position," he said. "I think the circuit will suit the car as much as Monaco did."
Jarno Trulli was fourth in Monaco, his best result of the season. The Italian is not a fan of the Hungarian track, but expects to go well there.
"It is one of the toughest races of the season," he said. "I've been training a lot since the last race and I feel in good shape for the weekend. I think our car will suit the circuit and feel that we are going to Hungary with a big chance of being competitive."
Jenson Button hopes to make up for a disappointing German Grand Prix and like Trulli believes a strong race is on the cards.
"I'm looking forward to competing with the McLarens and the Saubers," he said.
