Rain changes play in Jerez
Heavy overnight rain has delayed the start to the third day of Formula 1 testing at Jerez this morning (Wednesday), but the wet conditions have enabled tyre manufacturers Bridgestone and newcomers Michelin to continue their head-to-head on wets
The pit-lane stayed closed for an hour and a half due to drainage problems on the circuit, but the first teams were able to take to the track at 1030 local time (0930 GMT). Running has continued without incident and all 17 drivers present at the test have been out on the Spanish circuit.
As F1's latest stars acclimatise themselves to new teams and interim development cars, the rain, which is set to continue for the rest of the day, will add a twist to proceedings, especially for F1 wet weather novices such as Kimi Raikkonen and Darren Manning.
Williams-BMW signing Juan Pablo Montoya managed to set a time a mere 0.116s behind team mate Ralf Schumacher in the Colombian's first taste of F1 machinery since 1998 on Tuesday, but the former CART champ will have to accustom himself once more due to the change in weather.
