Prost engine worries over?
Alain Prost has ended his engine crisis with a two-year deal to use Ferrari V10s, according to unconfirmed reports in Italy
There has been no official confirmation and team owner Alain Prost has refused to comment, except that an announcement on his future will be made before the end of next week. If the deal goes ahead it will make history as it will be the first time the legendary outfit from Maranello has supplied two rival teams at the same time.
They already supply the Swiss-based Sauber team but the deal with Prost to use this year's V10 in 2001 is expected to run with an uprated engine to the end of 2002.
Prost, himself a former Ferrari driver, is expected to retain Jean Alesi, also an ex-Ferrari driver, who he already has under contract.
"It is down to Alain," said Alesi in Belgium this weekend. "I have a contract with them and if they want me to stay I will. He is also talking to former employers Sauber.
It is not known if Prost will retain German Nick Heidfeld who is being courted by Sauber or whether Ferrari will require an Italian in the other cockpit.
