Motoyama to Drive for Jordan in Friday Test in Japan

Formula Nippon Championship leader Satoshi Motoyama will drive for Jordan in Friday's private testing ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka.

Formula Nippon Championship leader Satoshi Motoyama will drive for Jordan in Friday's private testing ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka.

Motoyama, who also competes in the All Japan Grand Touring Car Championship, will fulfil his lifelong dream in making his Formula One debut at Suzuka.

"I would like to thank the Jordan Ford team for giving me a great opportunity to drive a third car at Suzuka," said Motoyama, who has won four Formula Nippon races this season. "I have been dreaming of this chance for a long time. I consider this opportunity as a big step in advancing my future racing career.

"I have raced in Suzuka many times and I know the track very well, but it will be my first time driving an F1 car so I think it will very difficult. It will be a big challenge for me, and I will do my best to show my driving skills in the limited time."

Motoyama will join last year's Formula Nippon champion Ralph Firman and his teammate Giancarlo Fisichella in the two-hour testing session.

Motoyama's debut on October 10 marks ten years since Jordan gave Eddie Irvine, the then Formula Nippon championship leader, his Formula One debut at Suzuka.
