Mixed Feelings for Minardi Duo

Minardi's new Malaysian recruit Alex Yoong complained of a slippery Indianapolis circuit as he used the Friday practice session to continue his steep learning curve in Formula One.

Minardi's new Malaysian recruit Alex Yoong complained of a slippery Indianapolis circuit as he used the Friday practice session to continue his steep learning curve in Formula One.

"It is very greasy today, so it just makes things a little bit tricky," said Yoong. "I think you have to be very smooth to get a really good time around here.

"It's quite tricky to get a good time out of the new tires. I was doing good times with the old tires, but when I got on the new tyres I soon found it was very easy to make mistakes."

Fernando Alonso fared a little better, finishing the day 19th overall, and enjoyed his first impressions of the Indianapolis circuit.

"It's a good track," said Alonso. "It's different compared to the European tracks because there is a very long straight and then a very slow part. For me, today was a good day without problems. We did a good job today to prepare tomorrow for qualifying."
