McLaren and Ferrari Complete Mugello Test

McLaren and Ferrari completed their testing at Mugello yesterday, with Olivier Panis continuing to be the fastest driver at the track.

McLaren and Ferrari completed their testing at Mugello yesterday, with Olivier Panis continuing to be the fastest driver at the track.

Panis was the only McLaren driver running at Mugello, completing 91 laps with the fastest time of the day of 1:25.182.

Michael Schumacher was the only Ferrari driver at Mugello, as Luca Badoer was testing at Fiorano. Schumacher ran a series of engine and aerodynamic tests, as well as working on tyre development for this season and next season. During this testing he completed 114 laps, with a fastest lap of 1:25.499. At the conclusion of testing, Michael said: "I am happy with what we have achieved over the past two days here in Mugello. We managed to cover a lot of kilometres, working on tyres, engine and aerodynamics. It has been a positive test, from which we have accumulated a lot of useful data. Of course, we also tried out a few new things for the Austrian Grand Prix. The characteristics of the Mugello track are ideal for preparations for a race at the A1-Ring."

Meanwhile, at Fiorano, Luca Badoer was testing experimental components, completing 64 laps with a fastest of 1:02.56. Both Badoer and Schumacher will test at Fiorano today.
