Brazilian Felipe Massa is confident he will be able to secure the final place on the 2003 Grand Prix grid and admitted talks with Jordan and sponsors are reaching their final stages.
Massa, 21, showed impressive pace last season but was dropped by Sauber at the end of last year after a debut season marred by accidents. He has been working hard with his manager, Ricardo Tedeschi, over the winter to secure the Jordan drive.
Speaking from his home in Brazil, Massa said: "We are just talking but at the moment I am just putting myself in Jordan and I think I can get there. We are still in negotiations but we are talking and I hope I will get the drive.
"I have seen that Eddie Irvine is not in the running any more and that is good news for me, but I do not know which driver they will choose. I cannot say but I hope we can this week."
Jordan, who will take part in Friday test sessions at each Grand Prix this year, are also in talks with Briton Ralf Firman.
