Jaguar to Announce Driver Line Up on Monday

The Jaguar Racing team are planning to announce their 2003 driver line up on Monday amid reports that Eddie Irvine and Pedro de la Rosa have been replaced.

The Jaguar Racing team are planning to announce their 2003 driver line up on Monday amid reports that Eddie Irvine and Pedro de la Rosa have been replaced.

"The team will be making an announcement on Monday. In the meantime, we cannot confirm anything else," team spokesman Nav Sidhu said today.

The Sun newspaper quoted Northern Irishman Irvine, who was out of contract with the team, confirming that Australian Mark Webber and Brazilian Antonio Pizzonia had been signed as replacements.

"This does not really affect my plans for the future," said Irvine, 36. "But if I were a team boss, I would not be happy fielding two inexperienced drivers."

Irvine scored all of Jaguar's eight points in 2002 while Spaniard De la Rosa struggled with an uncompetitive car.

Webber, 26, drove for Minardi this year, scoring two points in Australia on his debut, while Pizzonia, 22, has racked up thousands of miles as a Williams test driver.

Webber's move to Jaguar has been an open secret in Formula One for months while Pizzonia impressed the Ford-owned team in a one-off test in Spain last September.
