Spaniard Pedro de la Rosa has said that Jaguar are targeting fourth place in the Constructors' Championship this year and claims that they are good enough to achieve that goal.
De la Rosa predicted that Jaguar can become 'best of the rest' behind Ferrari, McLaren and Williams and insisted regular top-10 qualifying performances are the key.
"We have to qualify in the top ten otherwise scoring points is too difficult," de la Rosa said at the launch of the R3 in Milton Keynes on Friday. "Forget about the top three, let's be honest. They are too competitive and we are in a group with Sauber, Jordan and Renault. If we get to the front of that it will be good."
De la Rosa, who joined Jaguar as a racer four events into last season, admitted that Jaguar under-performed in 2001, but said that with team boss Niki Lauda and Gunther Steiner at the helm they have the right structure to work from.
"I think if we under-performed last year then it was because we were very badly organised. The first thing we have to do is get organised then detect where we are weaker," he added. "We need to grow in an organised way and I am extremely happy to have Gunther here because he will make the difference.
"I have no doubt Niki is the man. He will take Jaguar racing and he will do everything to achieve results. We will get there - the only question is when."
De la Rosa, who scored thee points last year, believes that he can improve his performance with the new Cosworth-powered R3.
"I have to improve, personally, on last year," de la Rosa said. "But as a team we have to qualify much better and hopefully with the R3 it will be achievable."
