Jaguar aiming for top three spot
Jaguar is targeting a place in Formula 1's top three this season, according to joint team boss Paul Stewart
The re-badged Stewart team finished fourth in last year's constructors' championship and Stewart believes the signing of Eddie Irvine could provide the catalyst to more success.
'Eddie Irvine is the right for our team,' said Stewart at AUTOSPORT International, 'he will generate a lot of excitement.
'We are doing things to the car to make it more competitive than last year's car.
'We have to aim for third in the championship. Having finished fourth in 1999 - it's the logical step.'
Stewart also said his family had no regrets of changing the name of the F1 team.
'We are immensely proud of what we achieved at Stewart Grand Prix - it was a success story.
'This season is a big challenger for us and we hope there will be a lot of support from British fans.'
Johnny Herbert will partner the ex-Ferrari driver for 2000.
