Honda vow to keep on pushing

Honda Racing boss Nick Fry has said his team are not going to give up on their ambitions to challenge Renault and Ferrari this season - even though they have been discounted from the title chase

Renault's director of engineering Pat Symonds said after the Spanish Grand Prix that he believed the championship was now a straight fight between his team and Ferrari, because Honda and McLaren had so far failed to show the speed necessary to join them at the front of the field.

Symonds said: " I keep on waiting for McLaren and Honda to come and join us, but it doesn't seem to be happening does it. And similarly with Honda, their winter pace in Barcelona was so good. I think now, six races down, we have got to start thinking it is more of a two-way fight."

Fry claimed he is not disheartened by Symonds' claims - and has said that his team will keep fighting until the end of the year to try and deliver that elusive maiden victory.

"I think Pat makes a good point at this point of time, because it is clear that Ferrari and Renault are doing a better job than the rest of us," said Fry. "And it is true that McLaren and us make up the next two down.

"But if he thinks that it is going to stop us trying then he has got another thing coming. We will be giving it hell until the last race in trying to do our best - and that is what we are here for."

Honda have high hopes that their new full-scale wind-tunnel, which will be in full use soon, will help deliver major improvements to their RA106.
