Hill's future could be settled within 24 hours

Jordan expects a decision from Damon Hill about his future within 24 hours

The team's commercial director Ian Phillip said on Radio 5, 'Damon has gone to discuss his future with his family and I am sure we will be hearing from him in the next 24 hours.

'He knows that we have got work to do. To be honest, ever since he announced his decision to quit at the end of the season Damon has said he will consider his options, always being in the best interests of the team.'

He added that the team wanted to finish third in the constructors' championship, and Hill was well aware of what this meant for him.

'He knows that and if the best contribution he can make is to step down to allow another driver to take his place that is what he will do.'

Hill is due to test for Jordan at Silverstone on Wednesday.

Japanese driver Shinji Nakano is testing tomorrow, and is scheduled to test with both Hill and [Heinz-Harald] Frentzen on Thursday and Friday.

A company spokesperson said the team would know whether Hill would be doing so as soon he informs them of his decision.
