Giancarlo Fisichella is hoping to score some points in tomorrow's Austrian Grand Prix after posting a promising ninth fastest time in today's qualifying.
"We are happy because we met our target, which was to be in the top ten," admitted Fisichella after the session. "I am ninth, and without a mistake in the last corner, I think maybe I could have been eighth.
"I'm optimistic about tomorrow and hope to score points. The weather forecast is very uncertain so we will have to wait and see."
Fisichella, who scored his maiden Grand Prix win at the Brazilian Grand Prix earlier this year, has failed to score any more points since then.
His Jordan teammate Ralph Firman could not match the pace of the Italian driver today, the British rookie finishing down in 16th place. Firman, who clinched his first Formula One points at the Spanish Grand Prix two weeks ago, is still hoping to finish in the top eight tomorrow.
"I had a good first sector but after that there was too much understeer so I lost time over the rest of the lap," said Firman. "I think the circuit changed a bit in the fifteen minutes between warm-up and qualifying. We've got a good race car and there's no reason why we can't score some points."
