Happy Fisichella Aiming for First Points

Italian Giancarlo Fisichella is looking to score his first points of the season in tomorrow's Brazilian Grand Prix after a strong performance in qualifying.

Italian Giancarlo Fisichella is looking to score his first points of the season in tomorrow's Brazilian Grand Prix after a strong performance in qualifying.

"I did a very good lap today, almost perfect," said the Italian after qualifying in a promising eighth position. "The car was reasonably good, although I didn't think we would get on the first four rows so I'm pleased.

"We did a good job, the mechanics and everybody, and I'm hoping for a good race tomorrow. Maybe I will score some points."

The Jordan driver, who failed to complete a single lap at the Malaysian Grand Prix and retired with a gearbox problem in Australia, was again the fastest of the drivers from the Silverstone-based squad.

Briton Ralph Firman put on his best qualifying performance of the season so far, finishing down in 16th position, more than a second behind his teammate. The rookie driver, however, is confident a stronger performance in the race.

"We made some changes to the car between practice and qualifying which improved the car a lot so I'm pretty happy," said Firman. "I made a small mistake but I would been in the same position anyway I think. We've got a good car for the race and I'm looking forward to it."
