Grapevine: Lola to celebrate 50th anniversary
British racing car manufacturer Lola will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a parade of some its most famous cars through the streets of Huntingdon, the Cambridgeshire town where its headquarters are based, at noon on October 12
Led by the RML MG-Lola LMP2 Coupe that currently races in the Le Mans Series and will compete in next year's Le Mans 24 Hours, a parade of Lolas will run through a designated two-mile route via the local ring road, finishing with the cars forming a 'paddock' in Huntingdon's historic market square.
The glittering convoy is set to include the Mk1 (the first Lola sports car ever built), the Lola T90 that Sir Jackie Stewart raced at the 1967 Indianapolis 500, the beautiful Lola T70 and the A1 Grand Prix Team Malaysia car driven by Fairuz Fauzy.
Stars from Lola's past and present will be on show including Richard Attwood, Hugh Dibley, Jackie Epstein, Alain De Cadenet, Mike Blanchet, James Weaver, Julian Bailey, Anthony Reid and Formula One world champion John Surtees.
Lola Cars owner Martin Birrane has also invited Eric Broadley MBE, the marque's founder, to be an integral part of the Golden celebration.
