Fry happy to wait on Brawn decision
Honda team boss Nick Fry says he is happy to wait until July for Ross Brawn to make a decision about his future, after admitting publicly that the Japanese squad are interested in hiring the Briton
As exclusively revealed by autosport.com last month, Fry is in talks with the former Ferrari technical director in a bid to convince him to join the Honda team.
Brawn has made it clear, however, that Ferrari will get priority in his plans for the future, and added that he will not consider any job offers until July.
Fry has said the July date is not a problem for Honda's plans, but admitted the team's main priority at the moment is to get out of their difficult situation.
"We are talking to Ross Brawn," Fry told Autosprint magazine in an interview. "At Ferrari he was the most classic example of coordinator of the technical work. The best thing Brawn did at Ferrari was creating a group able to work together, by making everyone go in the same direction.
"It's not easy to do. Every team needs a similar figure, there's no need for superstars or self-centred geniuses. Of course we'd like to have Ross Brawn, but there are also other people similar to him.
"At Honda we have two agendas. The first one encompasses solving the current problems, while the second one concerns planning all the future work. Obviously the future planning of the team is much more important than how to improve the car for the next GP in Monte Carlo.
"My priority now is how to prevent us from having more difficult times like the current one. The fact that Ross Brawn decides only in July what he wants to do, is perfectly compatible with our schedules."
Honda have struggled to make an impression this season, having not scored a point in the first three races of the year.
