Fifth feels like victory for Hill
Damon Hill finished fifth in his farewell British Grand Prix and said it
felt like a victory.
The ex-champion, who won here in 1994, scored points for only the second
time in eight races, brought an end to a disastrous run of luck and bad
form.
At one stage, in among the pits stops, he even led the race for a brief
time - a massive turnaround in his fortunes from two weeks ago when he
retired in France while running last.
But even in his euphoria he would still not be drawn on his future.
'I am not taking any decisions today,' he added. 'I will have a few beers and think about it.'
Asked what would influence his decision he replied 'the way I feel.'
Hill came home fifth to grab two points, behind teammate Heinz-Harald
Frentzen.
'This feels like a victory. We shall have a party tonight. I did the best
I could and I was satisfied with that.
'It has put a smile on my face after the nonsense we have had in the last
couple of weeks.
'It has been a special weekend but for a number of reasons it has been
difficult to enjoy.'
