Ferrari finalises Malaysian preparations

Ferrari completed its final test day before next Sunday's Malaysian Grand Prix with Rubens Barrichello and reserve driver Luca Badoer pounding out the laps at the Fiorano Circuit today (Saturday)

Barrichello didn't have the best of test sessions. After running just seven laps, the Brazilian felt there were gremlins in his 2001-spec car and cut short his session so engineers could change the engine in the F2001. Then, by the time he got back out on track it had begun to rain at the Tuscan circuit.

But before his engine change he did manage to set a time of 1m00.359s in the dry - about seven tenths quicker than his time yesterday. The Ferrari number two driver also completed 10 practice starts as he prepares for the second round of the F1 World Championship in eight days time.

Luca Badoer meanwhile was in a 2000-spec Ferrari as the team continued to develop its traction control and launch control devices that are set to be introduced at the Spanish Grand Prix on April 29.

The Italian's best time of the day was 1m01.739s, around half a second slower than Friday's time.
