Mark Webber: "I am looking forward to returning to the famous Nurburgring, with its numerous corners and unpredictable weather there is always something happening on-track. I have raced here with F3000 and managed second in 2001. Even last year with Minardi I enjoyed the circuit and I believe that this year in the R4 it will be even more fun. They changed the track a little last year and I hear that they have been doing some more changes this year also, so it will be good to get on track this Friday and see what they have done. Since Canada we have been really busy with a three-day test, working on various areas of the car including aerodynamics and tyres with Michelin. Again, the tyre record for Michelin at the Ring is good so we will be looking to continue with our reliability improvements and fight for some more championship points. Now that we have reached the halfway mark in the season, I would like to be rewarding both the factory team and Cosworth Racing and Pi Research with points on a more regular basis. The middle field is incredibly competitive so the remainder of the season promises to be anything but dull!"

Antonio Pizzonia: "I have good memories of the Nurburgring as I have raced there twice in Formula 3000 and had good results with a podium position last year. It is always an advantage for me going to a circuit I know, as I can spend the first session on Friday morning looking for a good set-up rather than learning the track. Testing at Silverstone this week has also been a good preparation for the race as we have been working closely with Michelin to try a new casing, which hopefully we will use at the Nurburgring. I remember from last year the tyre degradation was quite high so this work could prove very important. I really like the track and think it is quite challenging for the engineers to get the car right. There is a lot of camber change, several different tarmac surfaces and both high and low speed corners. As a result, I am more than looking forward to getting back on track, the R4 is looking good and I will be aiming for the chequered flag!"

David Pitchforth, Managing Director: "We have now passed the half-way mark of the season and so we are very much building on the foundations that have been put in place since Melbourne. We are ironing out the reliability gremlins, both here and at Cosworth Racing through our hard work while still maintaining good team morale. We learnt a lot in Canada and coupled with our three- day test at Silverstone last week we go to the Nurburgring circuit upbeat and positive. We are hoping for good weather on the Friday so we can continue with our testing programme, and although both drivers know this circuit fairly well it is important to complete as much track time as possible. The middle teams are now fighting over a few points and it is important for us to build on the R4's reliability between now and the end of the season, if we are to be successful in securing these precious points. The drivers are in good spirits and so we travel to the European Grand Prix focused on moving the team up the grid."
