Disappointed Coulthard Looking to Better Saturday

Scot David Coulthard was disappointed with his qualifying lap in today's first qualifying for the Austrian Grand Prix at the A1-Ring circuit.

Scot David Coulthard was disappointed with his qualifying lap in today's first qualifying for the Austrian Grand Prix at the A1-Ring circuit.

The McLaren driver finished down in seventh position a second behind Ferrari rival Michael Schumacher after failing to match his practice time on his flying lap in qualifying. Coulthard said, however, that there was still time to be found in tomorrow's session.

"Today's time is a bit disappointing as I was faster in this morning's practice with more fuel," said Coulthard at the end of the day. "At the first two corners I felt that I was not really on the limit and as a result at the third corner, I tried a bit more and ended up with lots of oversteer.

"However we will see what happens tomorrow as I know there is still a couple of more tenths to be found."

Finland's Championship leader Kimi Raikkonen was only eighth quickest for the Woking-based outfit, who are three points clear of Ferrari in the standings after five rounds.

"Of course I would have liked to be further up the grid," admitted Raikkonen. "I took it pretty easy in order to get a time and tomorrow we have more time to work on the set up and should be able to further improve the car. Today's qualifying is just a little practice before the real thing."
