Coulthard targets Monaco win, then championship

David Coulthard has said Monaco is the last achievement he can obtain before winning the World Championship

The Scot has already won three of the famous 'Big Four' races on the calendar - the British, Italian and Belgian Grands Prix.

Monaco is the only one missing from his trophy shelf.

"I have won in Spa, Silverstone and Monza so this is only one of the really great races that is left for me to win," said the Scot.

"And I'd love to do it because Monaco is the ultimate challenge for a driver.

"The only ambition you can have that is higher than winning here is to win the entire world championship itself."

Victory at the jewel in the Formula One crown would also be a timely boost to Coulthard's championship chances.

He is third in the title chase with 24 points, four behind team-mate Mika Hakkinen and 22 behind Michael Schumacher who has won four of the first six rounds.

Schumacher has won Monte Carlo four times in six years. Hakkinen, who was triumphant in '98, is the only other driver on the grid to have won Monaco.
