British Press is Anti-Schumacher, Says Ralf
German Ralf Schumacher has claimed that he and his World Champion brother Michael are victimised by the British press.
German Ralf Schumacher has claimed that he and his World Champion brother Michael are victimised by the British press.
Ferrari driver Schumacher was criticised by the world media after he refused to disobey team orders at the end of the A1-Ring race and passed his teammate Rubens Barrichello to take the win.
But Williams-BMW driver Ralf claimed there is an 'anti-Schumacher' feeling in England and cited his own experiences as basis for his accusations.
"Our family is not liked in England," said Schumacher. "Whatever teammate I have had, in the British press he was always the one who was going to bring Williams to the top. There is something about English media, at least some of them...they don't like the Schumachers.
"I don't know why. Whenever I had a new teammate, and I had five of them, they were supposed to be a lot better than I was."
The press hyped up Colombian Juan Pablo Montoya, Schumacher's current partner at Williams-BMW, as the man who can take the fight to his World Champion brother Michael and Ferrari. And although Schumacher junior said Montoya is one of the closest competitors he has ever had, he believes the pair are very closely matched.
"To be fair and honest, Juan is definitely one of the strongest ones," he said when asked of past teammates. "It is very tough between the two of us. It is not bad for him to lose against me a few times, and the other way around as well."
