Brawn: We can win F1 'double'

Ferrari can win the drivers' and constructors' world championships, according to the team's technical director Ross Brawn

Michael Schumacher has taken maximum points from the first two races of 2000 and both he and Rubens Barrichello will be hoping to extend the team's lead at this weekend's opening European race at Imola.

Ferrari received a further boost earlier this week when McLaren's David Coulthard lost his appeal against his disqualification from the Brazilian Grand Prix - leaving McLaren without a single point.

The team is now bidding to win both the drivers' and constructors' world championship for the first time since 1979.

Speaking to The Express, Brawn said: "It 1998 it was 2-0 to McLaren, last year it was 1-1 so hopefully it can be 2-0 to Ferrari this year.

"We have had a better start to the season in terms of performance that we have ever had.

"If we can maintain the kind of development we have had in previous years then we have got every chance of taking this opportunity.

"But it often more difficult when you are competitive. When you are, there is not always the same kind of drive because you want to maintain reliability."
