BAR Aim for Points in Canada with Revised Car

British American Racing (BAR) will run a much revised car in Canada next week in a race that the Formula One team hopes will secure their first points of the season.

British American Racing (BAR) will run a much revised car in Canada next week in a race that the Formula One team hopes will secure their first points of the season.

"The car will be significantly different," team principal David Richards told Autosport magazine on Thursday. "It is not a brand new car by any means as we are fairly restricted with what we can do this year.

"But it will look different, there will be a new transmission and the gearbox layout is different."

Honda-powered BAR are the only team of the 11 on the starting grid who have yet to score a point this year. The team went through a restructuring in March and Geoff Willis has arrived from Williams as technical director.

Richards said a new specification Honda engine should also be introduced for Montreal, home race for the team's former World Champion Jacques Villeneuve.

"We don't know how much power it is going to have but overall it might make three or four 10ths (of a second) difference per lap," said Richards.
