Olivier Panis Q&A

Olivier Panis' luck did not improve in Monaco, as the Frenchman posted his seventh retirement of the season. As in Australia it was the result of an accident, this time after a collision with Jenson Button when the Renault driver tried to pass at Ste Devote. With Arrows and Jordan scoring again in Monaco BAR's position as the only team on nil points is beginning to look a little desperate. All involved are eagerly awaiting the aero update from Geoff Willis that will debut in Canada, where Panis had his big shunt five years ago. Adam Cooper spoke to Olivier about his race

"I didn't see him, he tried to overtake me, and that's all. I braked on my line and turned in normally. I don't know where he was coming from, but it was a racing incident."

"No, I've never seen anybody pass there. But he tried it, and he didn't pass! For me it was a racing incident, so I'm not worried."

"It was reasonably okay. We decided to make just one stop, and went quite long. We were going to stop at lap 53, and in the five last laps before the stop the rear tyres went away, and the car was not easy to drive, but we were on target."

"Yes, when he pushed Bernoldi out. I was just behind with Nick Heidfeld. I saw Bernoldi pass him, and when Massa braked he pushed him off! I don't know what happened, but maybe he didn't have his front aerodynamics so he locked the wheels and pushed him off."

"Yes, it was quite good. I followed some quite good cars like the Sauber and Arrows. I followed the train, this is the good point, but we need to be quick."

"This is a good point, but we don't know for sure, because I didn't get to the end! But it's true."

"I really want the bad luck to stop, but we'll see in Canada."

"Sometimes yes, sometimes not. Maybe something good will happen there. Last year I had a brake problem. I was fourth and I had to DNF because the brake pedal went completely."

"We have the new aero kit this week in Paul Ricard, testing for Montreal. Apparently it's a big step, and we'll see. But I'm really looking forward to Canada."
