Austrian GP: Nico Hulkenberg had to readjust to F1 after Le Mans
Nico Hulkenberg says it took time to get back into the groove of driving a Formula 1 car in Austrian Grand Prix practice following his Le Mans 24 Hours success
The German took victory in the French sportscar classic with Porsche last weekend, sharing the honours with Nick Tandy and Earl Bamber.
The race fell between the Canadian and Austrian GPs, and after F1 free practice he told reporters he had to re-adapt to driving a Force India.
"Generally we made good progress over the day," said Hulkenberg.
"Building up in the morning, it took me quite a while to get back into the groove with this car after I've driven something else for quite a few laps.
"But then it was back to business really. It was a pretty straightforward Friday and trouble-free."
While Hulkenberg faced several questions about Le Mans for the second day running in the Red Bull Ring paddock, he stressed that his focus is fully back on F1.
"Obviously a few days on from Le Mans now I still feel very happy and proud," he said of his victory.
"But I have a job to do here and that's where my focus is at the moment.
"In the next few weeks when I get home, I will realise more and more [the achievement] and try to enjoy it as much as I can.
"I don't think we'll have to wait until the end of the season [to celebrate].
"I think we'll do something within Porsche, within our team, much earlier than the end of the year."
Hulkenberg was sixth fastest in second practice in Austria, just half a second off the pace set by Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel.
