Button Impresses Again in Indianapolis Qualifying

Briton Jenson Button underlined his huge potential on Saturday when he claimed sixth place on the grid for the United States Grand Prix.

Briton Jenson Button underlined his huge potential on Saturday when he claimed sixth place on the grid for the United States Grand Prix.

"I am very happy with that," he said. "I was optimistic that I could improve further but I lost time with a yellow flag when (Jean) Alesi stopped. And I pushed too hard on my final run."

Williams team mate Ralf Schuamcher of Germany was down in 10th place after spinning on his final run.

Button added: "It's great to be on the third row of the grid. It's been a good weekend for us so far.

"I hope we can improve on all of this tomorrow and I think it is a good circuit for overtaking so I am looking forward to the race."

After 14 races in his maiden Formula One season, the Benetton-bound Button is bidding to improve on a best race result of fourth place in Germany. He is currently eighth in the drivers' championship with 10 points.

Asked about driving on the banked final turn of the circuit at Indianapolis, he said: "It's great to drive on and you can really feel your neck and the way the car moves in the corner. I think it will be great in the race.

"It is going to be special. I think we are going to be two-abreast sometimes and that should be tremendous fun."
