McLaren Join Forces with Sparco

McLaren-Mercedes have announced that Sparco has joined the team's portfolio of partners as official supplier of race wear starting this year.

McLaren-Mercedes have announced that Sparco has joined the team's portfolio of partners as official supplier of race wear starting this year.

The relationship will see Sparco exclusively provide race wear to McLaren drivers David Coulthard, Kimi Raikkonen, Alex Wurz and Pedro de la Rosa.

The race suits have been produced using new fireproof materials with stretching capabilities, which have been developed in conjunction with McLaren's drivers.

"We have been wearing a development version of the new race suits from Sparco at recent tests and have been impressed with their performance, the material is definitely an improvement and it is a significant step forward," said Coulthard.

"We already have our race suits tailor made, as we all have different preferences for example Kimi prefers his suit to be looser than mine. Particularly for the first three Grands Prix, which are taking place in Australia, Malaysia and Bahrain locations that tend to have hot atmospheric conditions, which is where the new suits should provide the maximum benefits, as they already feel much cooler."
