Andersson Looking Forward to 'Emotional' Weekend

Toyota team boss Ove Andersson is looking forward to what he says will be an emotional weekend for him and the Japanese squad.

Toyota team boss Ove Andersson is looking forward to what he says will be an emotional weekend for him and the Japanese squad.

Toyota, the world's third biggest car manufacturer, will make their Formula One debut at this week's Australian Grand Prix after more than a year of testing. Andersson, who was the man in charge of the successful Toyota World Rally Championship team back in the nineties, says the first race will be a special moment for him.

"This will be a very emotional weekend for me," said Andersson. "Two years ago, our first Grand Prix seemed so far off, yet here we are. So much work has already been done, but there is still a lot more to do. We are a very young team, so we will need time to learn to work together."

Despite a team who are believed to have one of the biggest budgets in Formula One, Andersson has played down their chances and admitted that their main goal for the season-opening race will be to make it to the end of the event.

"People keep asking me about my expectations for this year - well, I don't have any," he added. "In Melbourne it is important that we qualify and then try to finish the race with both cars."

Toyota will be, along with Ferrari, Jaguar and Renault, only the fourth Formula One team to use their own engine and chassis this season.
