BMW boss Berger sets target
Gerhard Berger has set his sights on a place in the front of the midfield for the new Williams-BMW combination this year. And the BMW boss said he was as interested as everyone to see how the team's new 20-year-old recruit Jenson Button would perform at his first Grand Prix
The ex-McLaren and Ferrari driver's target is higher than Williams technical director Patrick Head who does not expect to see his cars start this race in the top 10.
"If we could go to the front of the midfield, where ever that is, then we would achieve one of my goals," said Berger in Melbourne. "Ralf is going to be a great help to us. He showed his potential last year."
Berger had words of praise for Button, preparing for his Formula 1 debut on Sunday.
"He is obviously very talented. Now the pressure starts and we've got to see what he can do in a race weekend. It is very different to testing
"He is a great talent for the future and we are prepared to invest in him and take him forward over the next few years."
