Button bids to silence critics
Jenson Button is bidding to silence his critics as he prepares for his Formula 1 debut in Sunday's Australian Grand Prix
The 20-year-old came under fire from a number of drivers - including Mika Salo and Jacques Villeneuve - who believe he is too young to drive in Formula 1.
Button, who joined Williams straight from Formula 3, will be Britain's youngest ever Grand Prix driver when he lines up on the Melbourne grid this weekend.
He said: "I've had a good look around at the track and it looks great, the sort of track I like.
"I could say I am going to just aim to finish Sunday's race - and that would be nice, especially if I am in the points - but I am aiming to be quick and to show people what I can do.
"I'd rather not finish the race and yet be fast than go slow and be ignored.
"I think that is more likely to show people what I can do."
