Trio speak out about FIA decision

While many of the sport's leading figures refused to provoke the wrath of the sport's governing body the Canadian ex-champion was one of the few to speak his mind.

He intimated the decision was another blow for the integrity of the sport.

When asked his reaction to the decision at the FIA hearing in Paris last week in which Ferrari's 1-2 finish in Sepang, and effectively put them in the driving seat for the final race in Suzuka on Sunday, Villeneuve replied, 'When you grow up you dream about racing. You dream about racing in Formula One as a sport - and then one day the dream stops.'

Team boss Stewart questioned why the accuracy of the FIA's sophisticated equipment had suddenly been brought into question.

'I was very disappointed to learn of the apparent inaccuracies of equipment that they used for an entire year to govern the highest level of competition,' he said.

'It [the decision] was absolutely wrong. If the same equipment that been measuring other cars all year was inaccurate then the FIA should be responsible - you can't make an exception for one race.'

The McLaren driver asked a simple question about Ferrari's controversial bargeboard, 'If it was legal why did Ferrari change it? Like a lot of people I am confused.'
