FIA confirms night GP schedule

The FIA confirmed on Wednesday that practice and qualifying for the first Singapore Grand Prix will also take place at night this year

Singapore will host the sport's first night race in September, in a move aimed at increasing viewing figures in Europe, where the race will take place at 1pm CET.

Friday's first practice session will take place during the afternoon, at 4pm, while the second session will already be held at night (8pm).

Qualifying will also take place during the night.

The timetable for the 2008 season also includes changes to the race start times for Australia, moved to 15:30 from last year's 2pm slot, and China, moved to 15:00.

The 2008 Formula One World Championship timetable is as follows:

14:00 - 15:30 Practice Session 2 (***)

Saturday

11:00 - 12:00 Practice Session 3 (****)
14:00 - 15:00 Qualifying Session (*****)

Sunday

14:00 Race (******)
