Zanardi future in doubt
Alex Zanardi is facing the boot at the end of the year following a string of poor performances
The Williams driver has received support from boss Sir Frank Williams, but the team is believed to be looking for a replacement driver for 2000.
Williams said, 'We have two great drivers. Ralf (Schumacher) is doing a fantastic job, and while Alex has been struggling he is getting better. He is starting to deal with it.'
Zanardi has had a bad run of car problems this season, but the team believes he should be closer to Schumacher than he is.
'My desire to do well is so high you wouldn't believe it,' said Zanardi. 'I am trying really hard. Whether I have a future in F1 is not a question that I'm asking myself. If I went out and finished on the podium it could set things in a different perspective.'
Top of Williams' list is former test driver Juan Pablo Montoya, followed by BMW Le Mans driver Tom Kristensen.
