Williams aim to improve qualifying pace

Nico Rosberg took the team's first points of the season at Albert Park, with a race run that would suggest the team have turned the corner on their disappointing 2006 campaign.

But poor qualifying positions for the German and teammate Alexander Wurz, in contrast to Rosberg setting the fifth fastest race lap, have left Michael in no doubt about what his team need to do for the next Grand Prix.

"We had a much better race than qualifying," Michael told autosport.com, referring to the fact his two drivers lined up 12th and 15th on the grid.

"Obviously Nico did a good job in the race and it was a shame for Alex as he got stuck in traffic for most of the race. But the main problem is qualifying.

"We need to work on the qualifying set-up, get some more temperature into the tyres for qualifying and make sure we can start further up the grid. If we can do that, then we can have a much stronger race."

Michael said that the result of the Australian Grand Prix was a boost for the team, which had suffered one of their worst seasons in history last year.

"It was very good to come out of the first race with two points and two reliable cars. Alex (Wurz) didn't finish, but everything on his car was running solid up until that point.

"Now we go to Malaysia and see what happens. We are not where we want to be, because we want to be first, but for where we are at the moment it is good."
