Ferrari narrows the gap

McLaren had a 1.3 second qualifying advantage at the opening race in Australia, but this weekend in Sao Paulo the Ferrari team leader said the gap should be 'fairly small'.

'We are approaching this race the same as we approached Melbourne and that is with the intention of winning it,' said the double champion. 'We had quite a lot of problems in Melbourne - hopefully all the ones we are going to get this season.

'There were other things we didn't understand at the time but I believe we do now. I don't want to get into detail. We understand quite a few of the problems but we may have not been able to find 100 per cent of the solutions yet.'

'We should have improved things significantly for Brazil and then cured them completely for the next race in San Marino.

'I would be surprised if the gap between us and McLaren is as big in Sao Paulo as it was in Melbourne. It should be fairly small in my view.'
