Abramovich denies Jordan bid
Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, the high-profile owner of Chelsea Football Club, has no plans to buy Jordan Grand Prix, according to his London office
Abramovich has spent over £100m on new players at Chelsea, including star international names such as Hernan Crespo and Adrian Mutu. He has been linked by several media reports to a similar buy-out of Eddie Jordan's team, which would give the Silverstone-based outfit access to much-needed funds, but this has been strenuously denied by his staff.
Abramovich's spokesman John Mann told the Evening Standard newspaper: "There is nothing in this. At the moment Roman is being linked with bids to buy anything from a shopping centre to another football team. When anything is up for sale his name is being connected with it and it gets a little nasty after a time.
"It is true that Roman enjoys F1, and has met Eddie [Jordan] several times, but that's it. Roman has also met with [Formula 1 supremo] Bernie Ecclestone but that doesn't mean he is going to buy his house. We just want to lay all these rumours to rest."
