Jordan: Brawn's talking nonsense
Eddie Jordan has accused Ferrari technical boss Ross Brawn of failing to recognise the importance of the role Michael Schumacher has played in the team's recent stunning run of success. In the August issue of F1 Racing, Jordan is interviewed by the magazine's editor in chief Matt Bishop, and some of Eddie's remarks will not be popular with Brawn
"Michael started his F1 career with me, so I know him pretty well," EJ remarked. "And what Michael has now done is to create and nurture a team [Ferrari] more or less from scratch. So when Ross [Brawn, Ferrari's technical director] said recently that if Honda were ever going to win in F1 again they'd have to build the entire car themselves, as Ferrari do... well, I have to say I found that a little bit silly. In fact, it was absolute out-and-out nonsense - because, without Michael, Ferrari wouldn't have won anything like 150 grands prix.
"I don't want to start a row with Ross; but I think for him to have said what he said, without giving due credit to Michael, was utterly ludicrous. Ross wouldn't even have gone to Ferrari if Michael hadn't been there, for Heaven's sake! Michael has created that team, and that's why his overall greatness goes way further than his speed in an F1 car."
