Button on show at Autosport International
Formula One sensation Jenson Button is to open the final day of the Autosport International Show on Sunday 14 January, adding to an already star-studded list of Formula 1 drivers attending the event which marks the unofficial start of another year of motorsport
Button, who finished a brilliant eighth in his first ever year in F1, will fly to Birmingham straight from extensive test sessions with his new Benetton-Renault team to meet his army of fans at the world's number one racing car show. During this time at the show he will take part in a number of public appearances where visitors will be able to meet the popular youngster for autograph signing sessions.
Button joins a growing list of F1 stars attending the show. The man who replaced him at Williams-BMW for next year, Juan Pablo Montoya will be there too, along with new Sauber signing Kimi Raikkonen and Arrows driver Pedro de la Rosa, with more still to be confirmed.
The 20-year-old added BBC Sport's Newcomer of the Year award to his trophy cabinet during Sunday's Sports Review of the Year and was presented with the famous silver camera trophy by triple world champion Jackie Stewart. Last week, he received Autosport.com's Rookie of the Year award.
Button said: "Racing against greats like Schumacher and Hakkinen, people I've been dreaming about racing for so many years - it was great to be even on the grid with them, never mind fighting it out with them on some occasions. Last year, when I was racing in F3, nobody knew me. I was looking at F1 in three or four years' time, but it was still just a dream then."
The Autosport International Show is to be held on Saturday and Sunday (January 13-14) with press and trade access on Thursday and Friday (11-12). Adult entry prices for the show are £13 with British Eurosport Thunderdrome tickets at £10 on the day, £7 in advance.
