Audio -- Derek Warwick: 'I'm a Schuey fan!'

"I'm a Schuey fan, so I'm a little biased I suppose," said Warwick, speaking live on Radio Autosport on Tuesday night. "If you look at Schumacher, he's now a three-times World Champion won in inferior cars in all three championships. So you have to say that he's something a little bit special."

Asked by Radio Autosport presenter John Hindhaugh what particular quality makes the German that bit better Warwick said: "Somebody like Michael is using just 90% of his ability to drive the car at 110%. Therefore he has 10% left in order to look at the tyres, think of the strategy, how best to get the next pit-stop over with or look at the traffic.

"Someone like Jean Alesi is undoubtedly a great talent, but he uses 99.9% of his ability just to drive the car. He's only got 0.1% left to think, and that is the difference between a great champion and a good driver.

"There's a million things to think about, but it's the handling of those million things that's wrapped up in that 1%.

"I think that has always been important; Stewart, Clark, Rindt, Villeneuve, Senna and Prost were all that 1% better than the rest of us.
