Need five quick takeaways from that race. We've got you covered here.

“I just didn’t have it today, I jumped the start and got a five-second penalty, but Charles had the pace on me,” an honest review by Hamilton on his race.

“My first podium here so really pleased to be standing here. I was very unlucky with the puncture but then very lucky with the safety car, it was a shame for the fans to miss the finish but so happy to be on the podium,” Russell says about second place.

"It feels incredible, unfortunately the end was not what I perhaps would have dreamt of but the feeling was good," Leclerc says about his first British GP win.

So, just to clarify. The safety car was called in at the end of the penultimate lap but eight seconds later race control said the safety car was deployed again - hence why the safety car never came in - and that is why the race ended behind the safety car. Why was it called in and then U-turned on?

Hamilton is under investigation for a yellow flag infringement as mentioned earlier. It'll be investigated after the race so that'll allow Hamilton to take part in the podium ceremony - but will be stay there in the final results?

"Tough times never last. Only tough people last," Leclerc repeats back to his Ferrari team over the radio.

That's his first win since the 2024 US GP!

Leclerc wins the British GP! It isn't a Ferrari 1-2 though, with Russell in second ahead of Hamilton in third. There's some boos in the crowd.

Norris takes fourth ahead of Hadjar, Lawson, Lindblad and Bortoleto. Antonelli crosses the line in ninth but his five-second penalty pushes him all the way to down to 16th. Therefore Colapinto and Gasly round out the points.

So, no final flourish and this race will finish behind the safety car. Leclerc will win from Russell and Hamilton will drop to third having been pitted under the safety car. Odd.

Yep! Safety car is coming in on the penultimate lap... oh wait, the safety car is deployed again! Or not! Not sure why though.

Verstappen's Red Bull has been cleared and the lapped cars are being allowed to overtake the safety car.

We might have a one-lap finish here. Any guesses for the last time we had one of those?

Hamilton has been noted for a yellow flag infringement - which occurred during the Hulkenberg stoppage - so we'll revisit that one at the end of the race.

A replay of Verstappen's crash shows him losing control going into Stowe in an incident similar to his crash in Austrian GP qualifying last Saturday.

"I'm stuck, mate, f*** this car, unbelievable," Verstappen said over team radio.

A lap later Leclerc and Hamilton pit for softs, Leclerc retains the lead but Russell does not pit and that puts him second and Hamilton down to third.

Hadjar dives into the pits, followed by Lawson and Lindblad who all take on fresh softs for what is likely to be a handful of laps sprint finish.

Verstappen's off! He's in the gravel at Stowe but he appears to have gone off all on his own. The full safety car has been called for.

Antonelli has been given a five second penalty for exceeding track limits too many times during his mishandling Mercedes woes. He's still 10th but Colapinto is just 1.9s back so will gain that place as it stands.

All that means Leclerc is nailed on for a first British GP victory! He leads by 20.9s from Hamilton who has a 6.7s gap over Verstappen.

Russell's slow puncture recovery sees him fourth - just 5.3s off Verstappen.

To add to Antonelli's woes he's about to get a penalty for exceeding track limits.

Antonelli loses another place to Hadjar and he simply cannot control his Mercedes. He's suffered a broken front-left wheel shield when he went over the kerb at Copse a few laps ago. The Italian pits again to get the broken part removed and returns to the track in 10th place.

Antonelli gets going again but he is down in fifth, then quickly overtaken by Norris to drop to sixth, as he runs off track at Brooklands. He's got damage to the left-front wheel shield which is impacting his handling of the car.

"The car is not turning," Antonelli says.

Trouble for Antonelli as he radios "something is broken" with his Mercedes! He pits from second and has a front wing change.

Back to the fight at the front and Leclerc's lead is down to 3.6s.

The VSC period is over so we're back to green flag racing. Verstappen has come out still in fourth with a 10.5s gap to close down to Hamilton with his fresh tyres. It is a tall order with 13 laps to go.

Hamilton gets the move done on Verstappen into Luffield to take third place!

Moments later a Virtual Safety Car is called as Hulkenberg is told to stop his Audi, and he parks it on the inside of Copse.

Verstappen pits for fresh mediums, followed in by Norris and Hadjar.

Stroll has been given a five-second penalty for track limits. He's 21st. Anyway.

After losing Russell as chief botherer, Hamilton takes up that role as he fights Verstappen for third place.

Antonelli pits a lap later, a scheduled stop compared to Russell's emergency stop for a puncture, and is out on the hards in second place - 7s behind Leclerc.

Next lap around and Russell pits due to the slow puncture, not before going side-by-side with Verstappen at Stowe, and he comes out on the track in seventh. Cruel luck for Russell.

Russell is told he has a slow right-rear puncture and he replies "who me?" which indicates he's not feeling it. Instead, he goes on the attack again trying to get by Verstappen at Club but the Red Bull driver makes his car wide enough to keep the place.

Russell has gone from defending against Hamilton to attacking Verstappen, as he looks for a move at Stowe but thinks better of it as he is too far back for an inside lunge.

Another trade of overtakes between Russell and Hamilton as the Ferrari driver goes around the outside at Brooklands but has no answer (i.e. battery) to stop Russell powering back before Copse.

Antonelli leads by 14.4s and is asking to pit but Mercedes is keeping him out.

He isn't at risk of an undercut because of the battle going on between Verstappen, Russell and Hamilton who are all losing time to each other.

Hamilton goes around the outside of Russell at Copse and they go side-by-side into Maggotts! Wow! Hamilton gets ahead but Russell, with more battery, uses it down the Hangar straight to regain fourth place. Great racing by the two Brits.

1.1s covers Verstappen, Russell and Hamilton in third, fourth and fifth. That is the fight for the final podium place, with the win being contested between Antonelli and Leclerc.

Norris pits from third, also switching to hards, and comes out in seventh and just behind Hadjar.
