Premat sets sights on victory

Alexandre Premat believes that he has the speed to take his first DTM victory at Brands Hatch this afternoon

The series rookie qualified third on the grid on Saturday, and he feels that his car is good enough to enable him to fight with the Mercedes of Mika Hakkinen and Bruno Spengler ahead of him.

"My car is fast enough to win," Premat told autosport.com. "It is really good here, so we can definitely race the Mercedes."

However, the Frenchman is aware that unless he gets ahead of the front-row starters at the beginning of the race, his only chance to pass them after that will be during the pit stops.

"This track is too small for these cars, so it is hard to race," he added. "I need to make a good start, otherwise we will have to use strategy.

"But if I don't get ahead, I will be able to challenge the leaders and I will be putting a lot of pressure on them."

The 2006-specification Audis have all looked strong this weekend, with Christian Abt qualifying fifth on the grid, while Mike Rockenfeller and Lucas Luhr had been fast in practice.
